Hoping for a quick solution to this one.
 

Neighbour just knocked the door, my 75, parked in the road, is randomly beeping and hazards are randomly flashing. It's like a mislock symptom. It's been raining heavy here today, I've just bought the car, I'm guessing the plenum is swimming but if there's something more definitive, please advise.

Best bet at this time of night is to disconnect the battery, shut the bonnet and lock the passenger doors internally then lock the drivers door with the key.

In the daylight tomorrow and hopefully a drier day connect the batt and see what happens with the car, worst case I would think is water bridging a connection.

Yep, done that. Wife is a carer, who doesn't drive, and next few days is a full programme. A neighbour is lending me his car for the day.

My TF started doing that, and I spent weeks doing all sorts of tests etc - eventually fixed by replacing the battery - which, although a little sluggish, was still capable of starting the car!


LION battery, replaced under warranty - a year later, same thign started happening again, replaced under warranty again.


Week or two ago, here we go again - as soon as the really cold weather starts. Exide battery fitted this time!


Just might be something like that with yours, who knows... guess the alarm detects a drop in voltage or something.

Wonder if maybe you could do anything with TOAF...

Check the plenums even if it looks dry the ECU may have got wet before you purchased the car, also check the bonnet switch as not got wet, but with the clicking by the passenger fuse box it could be the ECU.
