Evaporust
Does anyone have any experience of Evaporust?
|
Never heard of it, is it a new product ?
|
As above. Unknown quantity. If you do use it let us know how it goes and if you think it is any use.
|
Do you think it's safe to make the rust evaporate as it might leave a great big hole.---:eek::eek:

Just realised we have a dealer on here who uses it.
(Hi chap we use evapo rust which is safe to our health and safe to the vehicle. __________________ Marshall performance motors Clutches - cambelts - restorations Ad03mgzed is offline Report Post ) |
It's been around for at least a decade (Google for reviews), yet most of us have never heard of it. Maybe because it's from the USA, or maybe the price is a bit rich for us. It works by sequestration, so rather than converting the rust layer into a different inert form of iron, the iron atoms in the rust are selectively 'absorbed' into a water soluble 'macromolecule'. It's very similar to the sequestered iron plant feeds you use on rhododendrons, heathers, magnolias, etc. These plants can't absorb iron from typical soils. I suspect that disposing of spent Evaporust on your limey garden soil would do wonders for certain plants. Anyway, it's a pretty natty and simple approach to derusting. At £35 a gallon I won't be trying it myself.

What after ?
Having looked around , there do seem to be a number of good reviews and demonstrations . Those I have seen do , however , involve submersing objects in the liquid - presumably you can also brush / spray it on and later rinse off eg underbody ? Not sure either what you would use as a compatible preventative afterwards eg apply a rust converter to cope with any residual and then a protector followed by a paint/wax ? I read about a compatible protector that last a year but that's not good enough - need far longer.
Would be interested if anyone can add responses based on direct experience. Evaporust seems ok itself though. |
I am just about to order some and give it a go.
Yes, i too was thinking "what after" |
