Rover 620ti or 75 V8?

Saw this stock condition 600ti on ebay today.

How does such a car rate against the 75/MG v8 for speed and drivability?

Can't see how the two could be compared tbh. I used to own a 600Ti and it was a good car, quick but suffered from torque steer and didn't ride or handle as well as my 75cdt. I've never driven a 75/zt V8, but used to drive a 3500S V8 and although the 600 turbo put more bhp out it wasn't as useable.

I owned a 620 Ti and the drivers window fell in 20 times, the car is fast but not on corners as if you boot it you end up the wrong way round. If the right hand side of the head isn't weeping oil the handbrake will cost you a fortune every mot.
Mine was 79k full history etc and blew 2 turbos in 12 months.
The alloy wheels pit terribly and the interior seats fall apart at the seems even in the back where no one has sat! Oh and rear discs simply rot away as the rear shoes don't clean the discs as they stick.

Depends on what you want to do with it. If it would be an everyday car, then the 600ti wins on fuel economy and general abuseability; if its for high days and holidays and for going to shows, then its a closer call. 600ti's never were that common, and their engines have been raped for powering other kit cars or Rovers. In that case, purely for "I haven't seen one of them for years", go for the 600. If you are just after a rare car, period, go for the 75/ZT V8.

I have had 620 ti 820 vitesse and i got a v8. if you blow 2 turbos on a ti then there is something wrong with your driving! mine handled fab on corners

I had a 620 ti before my 75 and was a very economical car and have to admit I miss it but then you can't compare a 1.8 n/a with a 2 ltr Turbo, 200 BHP. Happy memories, Lesley (my late wife) loved driving the 620 manual but hated driving the 75 Auto

I've driven the 620Ti on many occasions, great performance even in today's standards. My Father had a 820 Vitesse, which was superb.

Hard to compare against the Mustang V8 though, horses for courses.

They are not on the same field but then the ti are very very good value. Brilliant car although with a tendency for torque steer

They seem to come up occasionally in unmolested original shape and I am always tempted

As I have sad before I need a bigger shed!

Gotta go for that wonderful V8 soundtrack
