Test Book questions
Hi
I'm taking the 1.8 75 in for a test book check on wed's --what items will it check-- what can it adjust -- anyone had experience of this ? Thanks. |
What is the fault in the first place? It can switch on and off different options and do checks to engine management systems,

Not been happy with the noise and harshness of this engine (as stated in previous posts) --looking for mis timing --weak fueling - throttle position sensor mis adjustment- etc .etc |
Hi Geoff :)
Testbook is the diagnostic software system for the 75. It will run through a full series of tests on your car covering all engine, electronics and other systems and will produce a report. So it should tell you about any engine misbehaviours and locate the source of nay problem. The trick with Testbook reports is to think about them carefully. i.e as an example only - it may say your fuel pump is knackered - the garage then say need new fuel pump £300 please. We say clip has fallen off put new clip on, £5 all sorted. If it helps and you get a costly diagnosis then do post up for a second opinion before splashing the cash. It could save you a few ££ hth |

Thanks for the advice- cost of test without any adjustments being done is £63 +vat (1 hours lab cost) hoping this will put my mind at rest before the warranty runs out ! |
Geoff the testbook (T4) session will list all or rather any fault codes stored in the various ECUs on your car none of these codes are dated so they could have happened today or months ago.
Most will be historical e.g blown bulbs long since fixed etc. A good mechanic might pick out a couple of codes worth further examination but if T4 has not been connected to your car for sometime the only sensible thing to do is get a print out of everything then clear all the fault codes and repeat the test in say a months time that way you know for sure if the codes are new or not although again any codes logged may not relate to any real faults. |

Shouldn't take an hour?
They will be looking at a display which as said before will allow you to change the way your car works. You might want the doors to auto lock as you move off, stuff like that. |
