As suggest by roverbarmy, you are looking at their connections behind the gear box and where they go under the bulkhead. There are two and they have been known to degrade or disconnect there, and you will see the join. Sometimes it really is a case of reconnectng and ensuring their clips are intact. Having said that, they can be awkward to force the ball joint back i . It has been discussed recently on this forum.
Good luck.

The cables not fitted securely after your new clutch. More likely than wear.

If it was the mechanic, the garage should fix the problem for you.

Rather than wear it's more likely that the cables were not re-fitted securely after your new clutch.

The garage should fix the problem for you.
