Stuck Tourer Rear lights

Hi All

Trying to remove my tourer rear light clusters.

Found and read the guide Tourer-change tail lights without breaking the clips.

But i ddin't get past the first bit remove the cross head screws with a large posidrive. as the screws didn't seem to want to come out.

Looking behind i can see the slightly rusty rivnuts just going round and round as i attempt to unscrew them.

So as i can't see a way to get any grips on the rivnuts to hold them in place whilst i undo the screw what's to method to get round that?

Also as the guide is very old are the clips available now if i do break them or what is the alternative these days.

Cheers Bean

a dab of superglue between rivnut and chassis. Can you push a screwdriver hard onto the rivnut while unscrewing the screw?

Hopefully someone can provide a link to a fixing kit on ebay

I made up some "plastic" inserts to fit into the rivnut hole and then screwed into that.
The rivnut had already been removed and a bodge job done.

I Have done several how to on repairing the tourer lights, in fact I am about to embark on doing a couple of sets later this week or early next week. ;)

So do not worry if you brake the brackets they can be fixed, you can then remove the rivnuts after the light is off.

Hi All

Reading to guides one said get some spare units in case you break ther ones you are trying to remove.

Makes sense to me so off to ebay.

Are tourer lights really that rare and expensive?

Pair of saloon units, 27 quid and looked all ok.

One single tourer units 75 quid and its only one.

Flipin eck.

Anyone know of a source?

Damn, missed these. Arctic, where do you get those black fixings from, they look ideal to replace the rivnuts?

The black replacements I use are from the sound proofing on the fire wall of the diesel cars, these can be got from scrap yard, or contact Mickyboy or any of the breakers on the forum to see if they will send you a few four in total needed.
