18"Apex alloys - refurb/finish?

My MGZT SE sport auto + in Pearl Black- the wheels are going for refurbishment- they are shadow silver but its suggested I have them just silver. Any opinions on either and what would have been the original finish? Thanks for your time. Chris.S.

Shadow Chrome (I think that may be a BMW colour but I don't know the code. The v8 site might have that info.

Shadow Chrome is silver over black, I've seen close up various colours on Apex wheels and Shadow Chrome done well looks good, Sparkle Silver looks good, Sparkly "Dodgem" metalflake looks surprisingly excellent (see Rick-Sta's monogram Typhoon)

They look dirty in gunmetal, and positively awful in solid black.

An example of Shadow Chrome finish on a Mini 17" Bullet Star wheel......

Rick was very unsure at the time as I recall, the colour of his wheels was IIRC Deanna's choice, but they are stunning :drool4:

Mine are shadow silver but I am going for silver when I get mine refurbished as I think the silver will emphasise the black Pearl more.

I've not heard of Shadow Silver - Sparkle Silver, yes. Not an expert on early car colours. My 2005 SE have Shadow Chrome wheels.

Thankyou all for your help. Chris.S.

as yours is PBT if it were me I'd get them done in shadow chrome as they really suit and makes the car stand out. Second choice would be silver sparkle which also looks great on PBT.

The Apex's on my typhoon are silver with rainbow holographic metal flakes in the paint as Brian mentioned above. Had this done to go with the typhoon colour but wouldn't really recommend it on a standard car as it'll look a bit odd.

The Apex's on my firefrost (redfive) are anthracite which I think goes really well with the colour of the car.

Shadow chrome. A dark coloured car needs the contrasting wheels. This is my pearl black with shadow chrome wheels.
