Indicator wiring
 

Greetings to you all from the antipodes. My 75 V6 Connoiseur has failed its 6 monthly warrant of fitness because the left hand repeater indicator light has failed. A new bulb did not solve the problem. No power at the terminal! Can someone tell me where the wires to this light come from?:noel:

The green/orange is the supply from the lighting switch module and the black goes directly to an earthing point.

Is the bulb holder exposed to water to some degree? If so, I'd look there first. With reference to the circuit, if the other left-hand direction indicators are working I don't see how it can be a fuse or the earthing point which is shared.

It could be a short on the wiring or a problem with the LCM. You can check for a short by unpluging the connector at the back of the LCM and ringing the pin out to earth. There are no fuses in the circuit, if tut LCM detects a short it powers down that circuit. It would be useful if it indicated that it had detected a short when it did this but it doesn't. You can check the LCM is operating correctly by checking the pin out,on the socket with a meter. The most likely cause is a short on the wiring. I had this on my headlight. If it is the LCM they are not cheap and are coded to the car and only new ones can be fitted which are encoded.

The LSM is directly behind and a part of, the lighting switch - the switch you use to turn the headlights on. Its an ECU - the 'switches' tell it what you want it to do and the ECU carries out the instruction.

Hello again, finally found the problem after removing the plastic liner under the mudguard. After removing the cloth braid the live wire looked like it had been attacked by some wee animal. Fotunately there was approx 50mm of well insulated wire left before it entered the main wiring loom. Soldered on a new length of wire wrapped it in plastic tubing and insulating tape and all now tickety boo. Panic over, thanks for the advice.
