Harmony Radio
Hi all, I have just purchased a (2001) Rover 75 tourer with Harmony Radio and find it annoying that I cant just switch on without using ignition key....Is there any way I can change wiring somehow so the radio will operate without the ignition key being turned to position 1. If I leave the car and take the keys with me my wife cannot listen to her favourite station. Help!!!!!!:duh:

Then you'll be complaining you have to keep switching it off....:}

Actually, without knowing what the harmony looks like, if its like mine, you just push and hold the power button.

I know, you’re going to tell me that you have other keys on the fob. If so, get a second key cut and give it to your wife so that you can take yours with you and she can listen to the radio! :D Simon |
The best solution is to buy the wifey her own 75. Otherwise she will be leaving the radio tuned to the wrong station, the wrong type of music in the player etc. :}

It's not possible to have the Harmony stay on with the ignition key
removed without altering the wiring. You could wire a permanent feed to the radio in place of the ignition feed but one mistake in not turning off the radio could result in a flat battery. You could upgrade to a Symphony radio which can remain on for 20 minutes after the key is removed if you press the on/off button. Dave T |
If the symphony radio is anything like the ones I've seen, in cold weather you won't be able to do anthing with it until it warms up - looking forward to winter, not.

You could always buy your wife one of these below. ;)
