I seem to have slowed my entry speed down. 221,470 miles so still a little way to go before re entry..

Mike Noc 27th November 2022 19:28

Well, unless I'm mistaken, you are 4153 miles from getting to the moon, but 229776 miles from re entry 'cos that only happens when you get back. :}

235,000 miles to the moon so you got 72,000 to go

i've got 2 cars now one on 170,0000 and the other 180,000. and hoping to get them both to the Moon :)

On the other hand, when the Moon is at perigee ('peri' means 'near'), the Moon is at its closest approach to the Earth. The distance between them is only 363 104 km (225 623 miles).;)

Which is the distance the "Moon Club" use. (I Hope) as I am very near to that.

Well done Bob. Been coming for a long time. Covid held you up, but now all you need is a good freewheel all the way back to Earth. Remind me when ,if you come to one of our Nano Meets, to take you round to the Dog&Partridge for a tot of Lagavulin, and a meal. Be nice to see the Banana, the most well known car in the club.

No sign of this moon thing yet. Perhaps we should have gone left at Tescos not right. The good lady said she saw a rock but that was nearly 75000 miles ago......
Yes, my Tourer made it to 300 000 yesterday. Don't buy one, they said. They won't last as you won't be able to get parts and they will drop to pieces. Friends, what happened to your cars? I've still got mine :D

Well nearly,:eek: Do we get a sticker if we can see it from earth? As for the Rover CDTi unfortunately I'm in the slow lane :o

johnnyb44 11th June 2023 18:26

250000 miles is an amazing achievement.
I'm curious to know how are members cars holding up to these high mileages. Are your engines still strong and are there any petrol ones that have achieved this. Have the cam chains on the diesels started to get rattlely.. What about auto boxes, how have faired.
So many questions but it would be interesting to hear from the owners that have done these remarkable miles.
Mines clocked just over 155k now and I sometimes worry about how much longer it will soldier on for.

Number 6 11th June 2023 20:55

Moon Mileage

I will refer you to the classic line from Trigger in Only Fools and Horses.

Trigger :- You know what they say Dave

Rodney :- No Trig what?

Trigger :- Look after your Broom.

Rodney :- What, and your broom will look after you ?

No Dave Look after your broom.

Same applies to our cars;);)

stevestrat 11th June 2023 21:07

Qualification for the moon club is 225,623 miles, that's the closest the moon gets to the earth.

Members are primarily diesels but Flying Banana is a member with his famous Sunspot Yellow petrol 1.8T.

bl52krz 11th June 2023 22:33

We.had a chap come to our meet yesterday after practically everyone had gone except three of us, who had a Diesel auto with 255,000 miles on the clock. It was Blue and a ‘53 registration. Never took the number. Wish I had.

YHT 236080 Rover 75 Diesel Saloon

Added another 35 yards last week when moved it out of the barn for a wedding and then back in. Had to change the in tank pump and fit a new battery but started a treat and ran smooth.
Really must invest time in doing the cills and slapping some waxoil where the sun doesnt shine!
