GRR modern cars

There are many advancements with modern cars over old but there are times when they seem to go backwards.

Our cars, key in ignition turn enough to power car but not start engine and I can open any or all of my windows. If T4 enabled you can open all 4 windows from drivers door lock

Wife's car is 64 plate, push button start. I cannot it seems open a window unless I start the car. I don't want all 4 open.

I Know, in my rover if I want to choose what music to listen too I pop in a CD, job done. In my wife's 67 plate car with a touchscreen I have to have downloaded music to a stick or her phone, which I need to bring along, then after a lot of finger swiping I may get to listen to my choice of music!!!!

Its called progress. Someone sits at a computer thinking how can I justify my existence, high salary, and job title. So they come up with some great idea to make things better that all their technophobe buddies think is the dogs. Then we are left with things like complex programming of car entertainment systems, computer programs etc etc. And don't get me on to the so called driving aids, hill start assist, auto hand brake, auto braking and parking. If you need these to drive you shouldn't be in charge of a moving vehicle

Keep it simple stupid just does not compute nowadays, its got to be complicated and or unnecessary to be cool.

Or am I just an old f%$Łt now?

Don't get me started, I had to reset the tyre pressure warning on a Nissan recently.

3 different Menu's and screens before it was gone, is it me?

SWMBO Mini is so easy, just push a button and its done.

On some Merc's now you cant even bleed the brakes as there are no bleed nipples, you need the correct Mercedes tool.

One the new Mini's there is no dipstick and you need special tool to even put oil in the engine.

You need a starting handle for the 8-track!

Why can you not just turn the ignition on and operate the windows without actually starting the car ?

Interesting. My Auris allows me to operate windows etc by one press of the power button.
Although my ZT has the option for remote window operation I've never had the requirement to use it,so for me it's a worthless option anyway.

Most push button start cars do. Don't touch the brake and hit start, ignition on. some are instant, others require the button held for a couple of seconds
