Breather pipe replacement parts(Rover 75 Conn SE 2.5 auto)
I just put down my deposit on a 2001 Rover 75 Connoisseur SE Auto. :drool4:
The breather pipe T piece and the pipe that goes left to right from the T piece are broken. The price for replacements seems ridiculous, so my first question is, can they be replaced with suitable (and cheaper) generic tubing, or do they have special fittings where they enter the cam covers? My second question is, does anyone know the inside diameter of these tubes? And just a thank you. This forum is incredible and I'm pleased to be joining such a friendly crowd. |
I believe you'll find suitable plastic or brass T-pieces and rubber/silicone tubing on eBay.
I seem to remember they're 8mm bore (??). Easy enough to measure the old ones. TC |
Thanks. I didn't think of that. I'll check eBay.
Unfortunately, the car is with the current owner about 90 km away at the moment. The plan is to take the parts for the repair with me when I go to collect it (there are fumes coming through the air vents). That's why I was hoping someone would know. Cheers. |
Breather Hose LLH102660
Welcome Teknon,
Are you from Victoria, Australia? The part number is LLH102660: referred to as "Hose – breather – cam cover to inlet manifold". Have you enquired locally (if resident of OZ) or from UK suppliers. If you google the part number you may find a better priced item, and check that they sell ex VAT to non- European residents as your cost will be increased with our GST tax. When comparing costs, one trader on this site offers members a discount. Unfortunately, the OZ exchange rate is not the best at present. From memory, the hose ends are slightly bevelled to assist with their homing. Members more experienced than me can confirm this - as it may be easier to fit.. If you wish to go along the path of making a unit yourself, You should be able to buy an acceptable “plastic” T junction from a local specialist. Hope this may help a bit. Egremont. |
Just mended the same pipes on the silver one. I took them off , you need to press down on the fitment where it enters into the hole to release the pipes.I cleaned them out, lot of wet gunk came out, I then got a plastic t piece and fitted the pipes to it then put them back on, just a push fit.Easy enough job to do.

Can you confirm the bore of the pipes? TC |
Solved
I just got a second-hand set from a wrecker (I think you call them breakers in the UK).
The pipes that go into the cam box are 12mm outside, about 9.5mm inside. It's the outer dimension that matters, The pipe going to the air box has a small adapter in it, outer dimension is 9mm, inner is 6mm. Edwin, Melbourne, Australia |

You boil the kettle, and fill an old mug with boiling water and allow the end containing the broken leg of the tee to soak for a minute or two which softens the black nylon pipe. Now carefully squeeze the pipe with pliers, which will collapse the much more brittle remnant of the tee. Repeat with the other two pipes, then when you have them all clean and blockage free, boil the kettle again, make yourself a cuppa, and fill the old mug with boiling water once more and immerse the ends of the three pipes again for a couple of minutes, you will now be able to insert the new TS10 tee into the softened black pipe, and once it cools it will be as good as new ;) I've never ever had an issue with repairing the KV6 breather in this fashion, and it's a sight cheaper than replacing the whole shoot :) Brian :D |

Brian, Thanks. This info is invaluable. I could have spent weeks tracking this down by myself. |
