T-cut original, On windows???
 

Evening all. As the title sudgests....

Read somewhere that T-cut original will "restore finish to hazey car windows" or something to that effect.

Anyonw tried this? as tbh my windows are scratched lol

You'll never polish out any significant scratches in glass using T-Cut. By significant, I mean anything you can detect with your fingernail. I suppose if the glass is just slightly 'misty' due to superficial abrasion, you might eventually polish it out. You'll need very strong arms or a lot of time with a rotory buffer. Whatever you can do to a headlamp lens, glass is a hundred times more difficult. It took me a couple of hours a day for several months to grind and polish a six inch glass mirror. For polishing glass, you need stuff based on cerium oxide.

Exactly as T-Cut says if your windows are scratched then it's serious work with specialist compounds to get them up to scratch :D:D:D:D:D.

If they are just "dirty" my favourite cleaner is Barkeepers friend mixed to a paste with distilled vinegar. Put it on with a small sponge (the sponge side of one of those dishwashing green scouring pads is OK) leave to dry and buff off with some heavy duty tissue. If there's some that's difficult to shift just sprinkle with more vinegar and wipe off.

For those old enough to remember it's a bit like how the original pink Windowlene was used.

Finish off with a diluted meths/isopropyl alcohol (IPA) spray.

PS Make sure you rinse any excess off as the great cleaning power comes from being slightly acidic (rather than alkaline like most cleaners) so doesn't do paintwork etc much good if left on there.

It would be easier to change the windows for ones that have no scratches (hens Teeth maybe) then make sure that the rubber channel is wiped clean every week without fail, this then helps stop the scratches also try not to lower the windows in hot dry weather if the channels rubber is holding grit. ;)

The problem is wiping the seals effectively. I've never managed to get all the grit out - even a credit card wrapped in rag and slid between the glass & seal doesn't do it.

Try this below baby wipes wrapped round you finger ;) works great for me, mind you do need to do it regular, last time I did I have to admit was about a month ago :o so try your credit card wrapped round a baby wipe :}

More eye opening info from the people on here. Never thought to clean seals out tbh. Shall let yas know how I get on. Cheers all.

Got Autoglass to fit a new drivers side window when mine became too bad:cool: Clean the seals every week with a flat blade in a cloth. ;):D

Just one slight drawback------Your credit card will never work again.----:duh:

Mine don't work anyways as I do not own one :} but any old plastic would do of even a kitchen spatula :D
