KV6 2.5 non-starting
 

Just been round to a mates to have a look at his 2.5 auto which won't start.
There's plenty of fuel (over half a tank) and I can hear the fuel pump running when the ignition is turned on).

I scanned the car with TOAF and found the following errors:

I presume that the issue is the camshaft position sensor which is causing the engine not to start, so a replacement sensor should remedy the issue, but what do the 02 sensor heat circuit errors relate to, I'm not familiar with the KV6 as my own car is a diesel.

I would put the new cam sensor on her and then clear the error codes - go for a drive and see if they re-appear.:shrug:I would assume if there is an issue the engine light will come on/flash.

I did ask if there had been any warning lights on the IPK or any other strange behaviour, such as difficult to start or poor fuel consumption and he said it'd been OK, parked it up one evening and the following morning wouldn't start.
That is the plan, replace the cam sensor, which he's ordered this afternoon from DMGRS, I'll fit it when it arrives, clear the error codes and see what happens

Check that the wiring as not chaffed on the heat guard on the exhaust sensor, i have seen that before.

Thanks for the tip about chaffed wiring, once we get the car mobile I'll raise it up so we can have a look at the sensor wiring for signs of damage,

Few other things for you to check with Toaf.
One of you friends VIS motors is reporting a fault, confirm by going into the engine menu and activate the VIS motors. You need the bonnet open as you won't get anything on the computer, if all is well you should hear 4 sweeps as each motor activates. Contact Stocktake if you need replacements.

And check the fan too, also engine menu, move the slider mid-way and press start checking low/medium/high speed (for 3 speed fans).

Once I've replaced the camshaft sensor and got the car running, I'll check the other issues highlighted on the TOAF scan, I noticed the VIS motor error, I recall when he bought the car in April 2017 the previous owner said that the VIS motors had been replaced, do they have such a short lifespan?
I'll also run a check on the cooling fan function.

Unfortunately standard VIS motors do have a short life span - read something about Rimmer Bros had a limited warranty on them. However, forum member Stocktake supplies upgraded VIS motors which do last, cost a bit more but I wouldn't go anywhere else.

Not necessarily Steve. Actuator 2 refers to the "power" VIS whose valve linkage can break. I'd first of all detach the actuator and test its operation using TOAF. Also check manually for play in the linkage.
Cooling fan 2 can refer to the medium speed on a 3 speed system. If your friend's car has a 2 speed system, it won't have a medium speed and so T4, and possibly TOAF too, thinks there's a fault. You can tell if it's a 2 speed system by the presence of a resistor visible through the radiator grille.
