Alloy refurb or steel wheels?
Considering an alloy refurb but at about £300 I’m thinking of replacing with steels with research into the various styles of hub caps available (about £100+ for the project and being on a budget it would seem sensible!). What (5 hole)16” steels would fit our cars? I believe they were an option at point of sale back in the day.

Why not put a post up asking if anyone has a nice used set of wheels for sale

I used to have Serpents but changed to 1” smaller alloys (Unions) for the comfort ride! Alloys need refurbishment but expensive. I’d be kicking the can down the road if acquiring another set (albeit for now) of cleaner alloys.

Three hundred quid to get alloys refurbed . . . . are you getting them gold plated  Place near me its less than £200, drop the car off, wheels off, tyres off, refurb, tyres on, balanced, car available the same day.

Gosh, not gold plated but near enough! Obviously there are variations in refurb prices (linked to quality of work done too maybe?) then there’s the lack of car for a day to consider as we only have one car. I’m pondering at the mo all possibilities. Where near you are they btw?

Although Steve was a little dismissive of the £300 I mentioned ;) it is a figure (rounded admittedly) that crops up in the limited research I’ve done. A budget is a budget though so steel wheels and hub caps is still the cheapest option. I can’t afford, like some, to keep expending on projects etc for our car as it is a daily use car.

I think this is the place https://www.citywheelrefurbishment.co.uk/price-list can someone confirm or deny if the above is a place with good reviews here? macafee2 |
Looks like 2017 price list there so maybe prices are higher now. Steering (you see what I did there!) the topic back to steel wheels, I believe the cars had them as an option but if I go down that route, where can I get them or is there alternatives from other cars that would fit? I know you can’t just go out and get 5 hole 16” rims; it’s a bit more scientific than that innit. :D

Yes, steel wheels with "hub caps" were an option on the 75 but they were only 15".
