aerial amplifier
 

have an issue with my 2 din radio loosing all the radio stations,
just different levels of hiss on each station.
checked aerial connection on rear of unit, all good and when i unplug
the aerial cable i do notice a different level of hiss.
Had a look at the rear aerial amplifier and notice i have moisture around the unit.
I know it is a powered unit but does it have its own fuse?

pulled the powered aerial amp out of the rear passenger side pillar and found that the rear sunroof drain had blocked and had water running down the panel
onto the rear passenger side floor.
pulled the amp apart and there was signs of moisture around where the aerial cable plug is mounted on the circuit board.
Not sure if is fried or not, can get a few stations now but still a bit weak signal wise.
At least its not the unit, thinking the aerial is
knackered as well as the small elements on the rear glass
look shot as well.

When I was getting issues like this,I changed the amp,,but it made no difference,,I gave the rear window a good clean ''on the inside''and it improved the reception,but I still notice a poorer reception when the rear screen heater is on.

Do you have an android unit ? If so download a radio app and stream from your mobile for brilliant reception and forget the aerial, i changed everything on my car to get better reception and in the end decided the unit itself was probably at fault, so connecting to phone as mobile hotspot answered my prayers

Kind of strange, reminds me of when i installed the unit and signal was like this until i hooked a power feed (blue amp wire) to the rear signal amplifier and it was reasonable.
I was then able to get some AM stations but now seems like its back to like no
AM signals and a few FM station that go in and out when moving.
Bought a small signal amp which also has a stick on aerial for the glass so ill see if that does anything.
I think the original am/ fm amplifier may be shot but not sure.
Hence my original question re dies the Rover amp module have a seperate fuse
for the 12v or does it just get fed from the radio?

Heated Rear Window and antenna booster share the same circuit, that is why reception is worse when HRW is on. You can replace the Diversity booster, but do not hold your breath.

MO you are wasting your time trying to make a silk purse out of a sows ear.
If you want radio, the way forward is to do as trebor suggested, go dedicated DAB, or get a DAB transmitter/adapter. FrstE is a good entry level unit for £40, Pure is a British company the 600 is worth the £160.

Be mindful of the fact that your receiver may have a fault.

I plan to fit a Pure 600 to Big Blue in the very near future, the radio reception is about as good as a 75/ZT

if i unplug the am/ fm amplifier i hear no change in the radio signal so i assume
its fried. The other issue is my rear window heater elements are broken and not working and have bot worked for ages although the rear demister light still comes on automatically if temp is under 10c.
I assume that means the fuse is still ok then ?

ok, had pretty much all the fm stations but still no AM stations.
Took out the fm/am aerial booster, swapped it from one out of my other 75s and low and behold everything all good.
Can only think the moisture has taken out some part of the AM circuit board.
Just ordered a s/hand one off ebay (part xuc 100741)
