Typhoon ZT - LSM Fire
Another one bites the dust. Some members will have seen elsewhere that my ZT caught fire yesterday, with the culprit being the LSM.

Is this a "common" thing with the lsm? Any idea what caused it to catch fire? macafee2 |

Sorry to hear about your car going up in flames. There have been a few fires caused by the LSM. I wonder if it is because they get very hot, or perhaps a short with all the cables getting old and cracking to show the wires, causing a short.PROBABLY NEVER KNOW.

Sorry to hear mate saw your sale post on facebook. Have seen this happen a few times. You were lucky, ive seen one end up completely in flames after a lsm fire.

Spotted your post on fb earlier, sorry to hear the news, at least you got out ok. It’s not a wire issue that causes the lsm to ignite, if you open one up you will usually find dust covering everything and sometimes corrosion on the board. I would advise everyone to strip them down and give a good clean, at least then you will have done all you can to prevent this. You can also remove the self tappers that hold the lsm in place and the ones holding the lower panel, fit plastic scrivets instead... should the worst happen you have a chance of pulling the lsm out and quashing then flames. |
