Rover 75 Sport

Morning All

Does anyone have any more photos (only seen one on the AROline site) of the Rover 75 Sport?

Thanks

Is that not the ZT 🤣🤣

Or the oxymoron special edition.

Is this another of it (second pic - first displaying)?

I think Andrew means this one.

Not sure if both are the same car with different wheels or if they made two of them. Have never heard what happened to them. Assume they were still in the Longbridge factory until 2005 and then were crushed along with so many others?

According to the MOT history T339 JOP MOT expired in July 2010. So made it out of the factory, assuming that's an original and not a copy

Cheers Rick, that's the one.
I assumed the styling was not the same as a ZT?

Andrew

My understanding is that the Rover 75 sport prototype was designed before the MG ZT came out in 2001. So the Rover 75 sport idea was before they went ahead with the MG variants. Don't know how true that is as I've only ever been able to find very little info on it.

The rover 75 sport is where I got the inspiration from when I had my mki 75 and fitted the mesh grill and painted the lower grill silver, although didn't colour code the upper grill surround.

Was the sport just a styling package? Does anyone know what the different spec was?

Thanks Tom

I know zilch about these but IMHO it looks really nice - just enough adjustments to give it a 'sharper' shape.
There are more than just wheel differences - albeit torpedo badge and bullet chrome trim are both 'clip-on' jobs, headlight power wash is clearly on one, not sure about 'tother and maybe the bonnet shut line is different. Perhaps your images are better rendered than mine but they look two different colours to me (black and perhaps one of the dark green shades?)

It was an idea mooted by the designer Richard Woolley. Changes were mostly cosmetic but did also include about an inch chopped off the ride height. Although in retrospect a few elements were of the time, it also looked rather gorgeous.
