Steering wheel control IR sensor broken, can I get a new one?
That little blue IR sensor thing above the radio on my 2002 ZT has a broken wire, I can't solder the wire back on as it is broken too close to the part.
Can I get another one from somewhere? It would be mad to change the entire radio loom for this little piece. Thanks |
Steering wheel Controls

You could bypass the IR to get the steering wheel controls to work. Have a look here https://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/for...1&postcount=11 You will need a kit from somewhere like www.autoleads.co.uk Regards Stu |
Ok, so does what kit I need to buy depend on what head unit I have?
Or does one kit work with all head units? For now I have the standard Kenwood KRC 391 cassette with 6 disc cd changer. However I will be upgrading to a newer Kenwood KDC BT43U which apparantly still works with the cd changer and IR steering wheel control (if I got the IR part working that is). |
I'm sure a breaker will have the relevant IRED for you ;)
The KDC-BT43U doesn't have the din plug output for the six disc changer and it was for this reason when I upgraded from my KRC-394 I chose a KDC-W4544...... the disc changer functionality was more important to me than bluetooth, as I already had a Parrot handsfree fitted. It also works with the original IR sensor, and looks quite OEM  https://the75andztclub.co.uk/forum/a...1&d=1586612411 Brian :D |
Ok if I forget about the 6 disc cd changer, do you know what wiring kit I would need for a Kenwood KDC-BT43U to bypass the IRED sensor?
