Off to get sorted...
I recently acquired a fixer upper, a facelift 2004 Conn SE CDTi in Royal Blue with a clutch problem, no MOT and a few bodywork issues for just over £450. However it has only done 51K miles so I thought it would be worth spending some money on getting it fixed and back on the road.
So after getting some quotes locally for a Clutch and Slave change around the £450-550 mark I worked out by spending some money getting it transported thru to Lates and Pete in Rugby and supplying the parts myself I could at least have the knowledge that it would be done correctly, by mechanics who know what they are doing and don't cut corners for a around the same cost. So a AP clutch, LUK slave and a Rover 75 Left handed master from Matt should cover all eventualities. They will also see what work, if any, needs done to get it thru it's MOT'd. Whilst I'm at it I can recommend a chap called Matt who transported the car from Peterborough to Rugby for a very good price. If anyone in the Peterborough, Northampton, Kettering area needs a car transported - he's your man. A few pics of the car and on the back of the low loader on its journey. https://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/for...c23139a3d7.jpg https://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/for...c232e2deff.jpg https://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/for...c232e5b453.jpg |
Lovely colour but then I am biased lol :)

Is the £450-£550 labour or parts and labour?
clutch, master and slave best part of £250? macafee2 |
Sorry the quotes I got were for just the parts and labour on the clutch and slave.

A job I'd do again on my own car but not convinced it is something I'd offer to do for someone. macafee2 |

The point was on costs on getting it transported to Lates and Pete rather than getting local garages (whom i've not found a good one yet) to get it done - works out much the same. Stubs |
Lates and Pete are top blokes who will do a great job. Having them do the work is a very sound choice in my view.

Indeed Cliff, I've been using them for work since December 2005, when they fitted I think the 2nd or 3rd timing belt they every did to my 1st V6.
I must have had at least a dozen 75's to them over the years. Stubs |
if you have a web site address can you add it as for the life of me Google cant find them.
thanks macafee2 |
