Grumbling sound
 

When turning the steering slowly full lock I can hear a grumbling sound. Is this likely to be the top bearings on the suspension? do they need renewing and if so is this expensive? Would welcome ideas.

usually more of a "creaking" noise rather than grumbling when the mounts are going. But to be honest , whenever i have changed them they dont take long to return the same noise. so as long as there is no play or effect on the steering function i would not worry too much. if there is a problem the MOT tester should alert you to any concerns, or if your worried get someone to check them out for you.

Have you checked the power steering fluid? The top strut mounts normally just clonk with small movements of the steering wheel.

Usually more of a clonking than grumbling but cv joints are a possibility especially if you see the boots have split. Assuming you are moving, even slowly
