Android tablets - best choice?

Not exactly a techno buff, but I think I have a rough idea of what I want...

Need advice on the subject as per title...

I know I need a capacitive screen, approx 10".

Wifi & Bluetooth connectivity essential.

Just need for internet use in the main.... browsing and e-mails.

I do not want an I-pod/Apple or similar device....

Your thoughts please gentle-people (well one has to be PC nowadays :icon_eek:) would be gratefully received :xmas-smiley-029::xmas-smiley-029:

Maplin do a tidy 9.7" archos carbon, 1gb /16GB 4.0 android operating system.
£179 . Cheaper than and nearly identical spec to the galaxy tab 10.1" at around £250. The archos model listed above, my son has one and its as easy to use as the iPad we have. Also a google nexus on android 4.2 is a good 7" tablet and shortly to be releases in 10"

Just got a Nexus 7 today and using it now. Well impressed with it. Synced via Google with my galaxy s2 so everything is the same on both devices

Kindle fire seems good?

A kindle isnt a true Android, it runs an non approved Android fork that doesnt have access to Google Play and its associated apps.

The best Android tabs are the Nexus 7 and 10 and the Galaxy Note 10.1, but thats expensive but some of the older Samgung Galaxy Tabs are now pretty cheap and far better value than the ultra cheap 9.7 inch units which have very low resolution screens and budget CPUs as well as fairly flaky software that may or may not have Google Play.

Food for thought........, I have already ruled out Kindle and I-pad, so looking for a half decent android approx 10" screen ...... just seems to be so many to choose from.....

The Nexus 10 then is probably for you. I chose the Nexus 7 as I am not a fan of the bigger 10" screens, they're not as portable and one of the reasons we bought a tablet is to double as an entertainment device for a toddler on long journeys

Don't be tempted by the cheap price of the generic tablets, they are an expensive paper weight at best. Go nexus, kindle, samsung or iPad, just steer clear of the cheap generic ones, they are fine for a kid to use but if you want anything half decent go for a name you know. I have the iPad and love it, some wont lol but android tablets, I would go for the above mentioned personally.
