53 Reg Saloon reversing and lights sounder fail
The reversing sensors on my January 2004 53 reg saloon started continuously beeping a few years ago. I put up with it until last summer when I replaced the sensors with NOS ones. This cured the problem and the sensors worked properly until recently when the beeper stopped sounding. It is also silent when the lights are left on and the door opened.
Reading other threads on this I assume that the sounder has failed. I am pretty sure that the sound came from the front of the car when it was working so I assume it is in the instrument cluster somewhere. My question is can the sensor be replaced or is it integrated somehow? If it cannot be replaced where it is can a new sounder be fitted elsewhere by breaking into the lead from the control unit in the boot? I am not too worried about the sounder working when the lights are left on. Thank you Paul |
Hi Paul,
Yes the sounder has failed and it is located inside the instrument cluster soldered to the board. I can replace it for you for £20 + £11.15 return shipping Royal Mail special delivery. This has become a bit common recently, I've done 5 or 6 in the last few months. |
Thank you Rick. I don't suppose you can do something about the screen whilst you are at it? Mine has more lines than screen.

See my post here for details: https://the75andztclub.co.uk/forum/s...d.php?t=310755 I still offer the deline repair service for £25 where I repair the lines on your screen but this generally works best if you only have up to around 10 individual lines. As these cars are getting older I'm finding less and less screens repair well and last these days. |
Thanks Rick
I don't honestly think that my screen will repair satisfactorily. Having been so pleased with the reinstatement of the reversing sensors I will have the beeper done but I will wait a little and think about the screen and send you a PM. Thank you Paul |
replied to your PM :)
