Coolant flow direction
Hello all
Im frank from Holland I have a 75 bld 2000 2,5 v6 sterling I'm busy with a modification of the cooling system A few things i want to do First the fan... The original out on the engine side comes 2x 12 inch fan wat will work in serial those get connected on the original box of fan.onthe midelle comes an extra 12 volt connection posible high revs from box so i got there 2 speed. On the place of original fan comes a 16 inch fan on a New thermostate at 98 C Then as last an extra electric small waterpump which also on a thermostate swich The idea behind this less blackspots airbubles and better flow at low revs After a fast hot drive cooling stays working while engine is off The only thing i now need to know is the flow direction Is it behind the termostate warm water that's going to radiator wat get cooled backto engine? Hello Frank, welcome to the Club.
The followng flow diagram is from the MGR RAVE manual. I've coloured the flows to indicate temperature differences. I hope this helps. https://www.mediafire.com/convkey/a0...rz83jejj6g.jpg TC |

A 98 degree thermostat??
Are you serious? Normally there is about a 10 maybe 15 degree opening interval. That means the thermostat has hardly opened, before the first stage cooling starts at 100 degrees. Makes absolutely no sense, whatsoever. The normal fan is more than able to cope, provided it works. There are normally no bubbles in a system that has been up to temperature and topped up a couple of times, unless you lose water The system is self bleeding, like any normal cooling system should be!. |

Thats wat i meen
The 12 inch fans will work a when airco is on and so at lo revs Second fan will go on at 98C deg with thermostate swich This changeable i be able to reach that thermostate switch if stays to cool or to hot |
The 12 inch fans will be connected at the box with relais now located at radiator this wil run first stage and when airco is switched on
They will switched in serial( low revs) second stage i have to try if i can use this from the box or with the extra thermistaic switch ( When connecting a 2 12 volt on the +of second fan they get both 12 volt an run on max speed) 16 inch gets its own new thermistaic switch witch start at 98 C |
