Hedlight bulb

I thought changing the headlight bulbs was a 5 minute job. No such luck doing near side dipped beam, even with the wheel off what a cow.
Wiring harness gets in the way and then heck of a job to twist and remove bulb.

As for a replacement, wow the choice is endless.

Do any of these really give a better light on the road? Any recommendations? Put a spare bulb in but want to get 2 new ones

I would stay away from Lucas. They are just generic Chinese rubbish.

Philips and Osram Nightbreakers are excellent for light output. But, the additional light does come at the expense of lifespan.

Nowadays we don't do much driving down country lanes in the dark so I find Osram Ultralife perfectly fine. The have a 4-year lifespan guarantee.

Could not agree more. Philips and Osram. I've been using nightbreakers since getting the tourer in 2012, I have a pair sitting here waiting to go into my Focus. After complaints from a friend about poor headlights in her Fabia I fitted nightbreakers for her last week and she actually rang me up to sing the praises of the new bulbs.

Thanks mss.

However, order 2 single Osram Ultralife bulbs rather than the double pack, use the HALLOWEEN80 current promotion code ECP have on now, and it works out £2 cheaper (£9.98 for 2 with free delivery)

Heading towards my Just In Case Box as I type!

Cheers

I was sick and tired of replacing Osram Nightbreakers, so bought a pack of ten Lucas H7.

So far I've used six of the ten, in three cars, and the oldest pair have been in there for eighteen months.

Best bulbs I've used for the cars that eat headlight bulbs for breakfast :drool4:

Brian - try the Osram Ultralife. They've now been in our CDT for over 2 years without any problems.

I tried Lucas H7's in my R45. After 3 months took them out to inspect and the rear insulator between the connections was burned black. It looked like pastic rather than bakelite of ceramic type of material. They were cheaply made - but also cheap to buy.

I guess the light output would be oustanding if the bulb and then the car caught fire :D

I didn't note any of that when I removed the bulb on the ZT about eight weeks back after a pigeon committed suicide by flying into my headlamp while I was making good progress along the A19, to allow the refitting of the reflector to ball socket of the height adjuster.

Perhaps you unknowingly bought knockoff copies, the ones I have are certainly fit for service

Anyway they have surpassed expectation in terms of lifespan, so I won't complain at that
