calipers
does anyone know if the front brake calipers on the rover 75 1.8 2.0 and kv6 2.0 and 2.5 and diesel 2.0 are all the same part. 871 left and 872 right are stamped on them but I was wondering if they are interchangeable and the same part with only the 180 and 190 and v8 calipers being different ? regards.

Fronts are the same throughout the range except the ones you mentioned. Just be wary of those that have been upgraded to the 190 type up front. Likewise with the rears, earlier cars as well as the 180/190 (NOT V8 - they used completely different rear calipers and discs) had vented discs, but the solid disc variants were the same. |

Yes vented discs would require wider calipers. The wider calipers are not interchangeable (safely) with non vented discs, however they can be used on solid disc type caliper carriers (I have read). Sent from my SM-A600FN using Tapatalk |

Btw, did you paint your new calipers? I'm thinking of doing mine but not sure on the best choice of paint. |

Paint came from a local company. (Ebay seller fiona McGowan, search for clipper paint. I cannot get links on the phone). The paint has held up extremely well. Sent from my SM-A600FN using Tapatalk |

You can powdercoat them as well if you strip all the seals etc off. |

My rears came from a retiring trader, before I realised they could be had new. I probably would have bought new, but as I had plenty of time to do it, as well as never having done it before, I am happy enough to have done it myself. May have saved just 5-10 each on the rears, but learned how to do it. Am not sure I would powder coat them, as any chipping on the coating could allow moisture below the surface causing the coating to split and look bad over time. After all paint or coating is just an aesthetic exercise. With paint it is easier to touch up. Sent from my SM-A600FN using Tapatalk |
