At Last!

Finally got around to fitting this badge to my airbag.

And i managed not to kill myself in the process. I have been looking for a badge in good condition like this (Rover 25) for quite a while. It's definitely a classier looking badge than the facelift badge that was there. Yes, I know its a black airbag, but my 75 now sports the dark ZT interior coupled with a real walnut dash.

Must admit taking the angle grinder to rivets on my airbag was a little scary, but I lived to tell the tale.

I have the same done too - hoping to get it fitted when the interior is going back in.. :)

Looks cool, the only problem is finding a black leather and wood wheel to go with it (very rare). I wanted a ZT-look interior but couldn't find an OEM black airbag (with mk1 Rover badge) to match the black dash, so this was the the next best (and perhaps better) thing.

Can live with the Smokestone, black and walnut wheel look, though - will try to get a photo or two up tomorrow.

Cheers,
Karl.

Believe it or not, the car came with a light oak wheel, which I swapped to a walnut. I didn't like either! I found I didn't like the hard feel of the wood steering wheels. I much prefer the leather ZT wheel, or the Contemporary 75 wheel.

One of the things I like about these cars is the ability to completely change the look / feel of the interior relatively easily.

By the way, the airbag in the picture is, sorry was a smokestone which I sprayed with satin black paint.

Yeah, thankfully most of the interior stuff in these cars is relatively easy to replace (especially after you've broken it once.. :getmecoat:).

Not sure I could bring myself to sacrifice the walnut-rimmed steering wheel, though.. one of the most visually pleasing aspects of the interior to my mind!

Cheers,
Karl.

I agree 100%, for looks the walnut wheel is gorgeous, but it hurt the joints in my hands:shrug:
