Can someone please tell me the size of the driveshaft nut on a ZT190? I need a new socket!
Also what is the purpose of the silicone pipe (about 4 or 5mm) fitted to the front hub near the inner end of the track control arm, there is an 8mm bolt which appears to hold an oval retaining plate and the pipe entering the hub? Importantly - how is the pipe removed, bolt out, but not releasing the mystery (to me) pipe??? |
32mm for the socket, the 'pipe' is actually a wiring harness for the ABS sensor ;)

Thankyou!!
Once the bolt is out, how is it all removed? |

Mark your drill bit using the new sensor as reference. |
Many thanks. I guess its a better bet to leave it on and disconnect the other end somewhere. (Ive got a snapped spring and the dreaded carrier bolt is shot and seized etc so need to remove the hub and strut together!)

The left grommet in this photo, and the blue connector the black one is for the brake wear sensor which will also need to be removed if you are taking the strut off the car completely. https://i.imgur.com/At59mGLl.jpg1 https://i.imgur.com/T8ziqaul.jpg2 |

Hi all! Ive left the ABS sensor in place! Having now got the front strut off, and in turn, the broken spring, new one ready to go - can i ask is there a test or obvious signs of an expired damper? it is physically difficult to move by hand, but im not sure of the force needed to do this. Also it is fairly well tight and compressed (spring off) and i would have thought it would have been extended under its own force?
Any guidance will be appreciated. thanks in advance. bluemalbert is online now Report Post |
Hello Malcolm, the strut (damper) should fully extend automatically when the spring and upper mount/bearing is removed. You'll need a spring compressor to put it all back together.
