Photographs
I have gradually been working my way through my extensive photograph collection. Been transferring the one’s that are of sentimental value on to USB sticks.
But what do I do with the original photo’s? There’s a lot from my early days of photography, a few odd shots. Lots of cars, a few aircraft. |

As far as USBs go, consider getting an external portable hard drive, a solid state one. Keep the USBs as a back up, and save the hard drive as your 'working' device. The USBs though can be lost, and as the hard drive, they are not infallible (it is a good idea to have them spread over many USBs for that reason - if one fails, you dont lose the lot) |

I keep all my paper pictures in photo albums. Takes up a small cabinet that's all.
If the pictures touch a magnet it does nothing to them at all.--:D |

However I have kept our wedding and corresponding albums. I also have the original wedding video. But no video player. |
Hi Bob,
The wedding footage can probably be converted to a digital format so you can relive the day. Here's a couple from a quick search: https://digitalconverters.co.uk/ https://eachmoment.co.uk As for the photos..... Do you know when/where they were taken? If it's from "events" then maybe the organisers would like them. Some have an archivist who would doubtless love them. Maybe for the cars there's owner's clubs that might be interested? Enjoy the memories as you go through. |
The other thing you might want to consider is what photos you want others to keep when you are no longer here. I agree with Andy, having a photo you can feel and look at beats them all. All of my photos are catalogued and some of them are paper going back to the 1930’s handed down over the generations. Last year a good friend passed away at the age of 97. He had kept his photos from the war of when he was a flying officer in the RAF. Those photos and his log book are in a museum in Leeds. I had managed to get copies done for his family and friends, memories of the man and his life, all tell a story.
