They are ideal for the job. As long as you overlap them a bit there is no overspray and you can still get paint onto the lip of the rim. |

Hi, today Lagetha got a new smile, thanks to a home-made (not by me!) mesh grill I bought from Paul Rover Man of Project Nigel... And now she is all washed, soon to be vacuumed and interior spot cleaned ready for Gaydon and the National Meet on Sunday.

My wife got back today from a few days away in Leicester without this bit of the car. So I got on the phone to my local shop and ordered a new one. Will take about 4 days to get it done as the rear plate is special order, and mine for £25. If anyone finds the original somewhere between Leicester & Plymouth please send me a pm!!!
She also reported back that the new tyres I had fitted last Thursday developed a wheel wobble at 58 mph feeding through the steering wheel, fortunately it went away at about 62, so she was relatively unbothered on the motorways. The car otherwise was fine and returned about 45mpg on her 550 mile round trip.:} She took into the tyre shop this afternoon, they rebalanced it and all now is ok. |
Managed to get the front underframe off in prep for dropping the gearbox. De-rusted, rust converted ready to get a coat of paint so it will see me out!

Changed the ABS modulator and gave it the primary and secondary bleed using T4, happy to report the abs light is now out... only to be replaced by a brake light bulb failure, repeated pressing of the pedal must have finished it off.
Another big thanks to Terry Shaw for the modulator, tomorrow's job is to get underneath while it's on the axle stands, clean off any surface rust and treat with ACF 50. Sent from my SM-G780G using Tapatalk https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...758be7ef8c.jpg |
Thought being a nice sunny day, I would start the 2.5 Connie up for an hour. Started on the button. I can honestly say, this engine must be in good Nick because it never fails to start, even when it’s freezing cold. Going to be on the road in June for 12 months.

A quick trip to see David Tomlinson in Atherton to have new rear springs and shock absorbers fitted. A very good job, the car now has a proper ride height... 🙂

Changed the automatic transmission fluid following beinet1's very good guide:
https://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/for...d.php?t=124816 The only thing I did differently was use diagnostic software to monitor the fluid temperature. It took longer than I expected to reach 35°C, about 15 minutes I think. The old fluid that came out was a dark grey / brown, I don't think it had ever been changed in the car's 79000 miles / 23 years. The gear changes are so much smoother now! I also changed the lower engine mount as the rubber had split. Getting the bolt out/in that lines up with the oxygen sensor was "fun". Fortunately the forum was there yet again to provide the advice needed: https://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/for...d.php?t=293162 We also changed the power steering fluid on my wife's Rover 25. |
