Ventilation not working

Hi all,

I wonder if you can help me, about a week ago now my air ventilation has stopped working. So on the control panel if you try to get air to blow through the vents, nothing happens. I don't think it is a fuse or relay as I can hear a sort of motor whirling (if that makes sense) so what could it be, what part do I need?
Any suggestions

Kind regards,

Marc

Hi Marc.
Is the A/C not blowing at all through any of the vents, a local member had the same problem, so i had to change out the heater transformer / blower resistor.

After i changed it the blower would still not work, so i hooked up the T4 and forced the blower through 15% 20% 25% and so on up to maximum 100% then we tried the A/C and success the blower was working.

The motor blower fan relay resistor part is
077800-0580

If it turns out to be the fan relay try one of the traders on here Mickyboy, or Tom Holland.

It could also be the front control panel but they very rarely go wrong.

Hi Artic,

Thanks for your comprehensive reply
In regards to the aircon, it does work, but there is no fan blowing it out, so would that still be the problem you described?

Warm regards,

Marc

Hi Marc.
It sounds the same as the owner i fitted one for, if it turns out to be the blower its self that is a massive job to replace, very intrusive to get to.

Easier if you drop the pedal box out (still requires a bit of upside down in the footwell action though)

Having done this job last year on my car, I wonder if it wold be easier to do if the entire dashboard were removed???

If you suspect the motor as opposed to the driver transistor pack thing (which I tried first, and it made no difference) remove the pollen filter and reach along the duct, and with the ATC switched on, spin the fan blades.

It might be that it comes back to life, this is very short term, but it will point you in the right direction.

Hi,

Just a little update on my lack of blower through the air vents. I replaced the blower resister and it's still the same:shrug: so before I go down the invasive route of replacing the fan motor, I was just wondering if there was a relay or fuse that has gone that could be changed first, if so, where would they be located, underneath the glove box? As probably I've said before, I do have heat from the heater that comes in when the car is in motion, but no fan speed.

Kind regards,

Marc

No Marc, in the engine compartment fusebox. You'll find a blower relay there identified by a fan symbol. This is supplied by fuse link 10 which is a whopping 40 amps and unlikely to have blown.

You said that you've renewed the electronic module (it's not a resistor pack on the ATC system) without success. Note that Arctic reported the same and also gave his solution.

i hope that this helps.

Pull out the relay that Simon mentions above, and swap it for a different one from the fuse box, see what happens then..

Hi Simon,

Thanks for the info, will have a look when I get chance at the fuse and perhaps even change the relay to see if that cures the problem.
As regards the part I changed it is the one in Artics post no. 2, the heater transformer/ blower resistor.

Kind regards,

Marc
