No party political points being made, which is great as there's not much to chose. Too many (most?) of our politicians have never really worked and come from advantaged backgounds. My parents were great and very bright and supportive. When I was born my Dad was an out of work (septic finger) builders labourer. Lucky chance it wasn't cut off. Stoke Newington at the time the murder borough of London, I walked past the Regency Club the way to school.

He grafted all the hours God sent and ended up contract manager for a medium size building company. Both me and my brother inherited his approach. I've done all kinds of jobs just to bring in a wage, even after qualifying to teach (couldn't stand it and quit after a year).

These people know nowt. Electric cars - great for those in flats or terraced housing. OK if you're in a detached house in 2-3 acres.

Oh the 37, my absolute favourite diesel locomotive. Hearing them on a cold start up is amazing.
They look fantastic, to me they ooze power and to hear them thundering through stations is a sound that I never get tired of hearing.

public transport in the sticks is pretty poor, can be a long way to station and buses not regular but when I lived in London the busses and trains were quite good. For about 3 years and living in the sticks I caught the train to and from work, was on time and only once or twice was cancelled.
I think location has a bit to do with frequency of public transport.

I am for keeping my 2 diesels, I don't see it as cost effective to change to a newer car and I happen to like driving my cars

Love the split box type 3 ( class 37) They look like angry flared nostrils to go with the lovely growl !

I also like seeing the cold start videos on youtube of both the 37's and class 40 with their 4 exhaust ports for their V16 engine. :D

Have two diesel tourers and will have till I pop my clogs. One will be my hearse as I can lie out in comfort with the back seats down surrounded by wood and class. I will also keep my four R8's as well just to annoy the rule makers. Class funeral 1x75 as hearse followed by another 75 tourer then 3xR8 tourers and a R8 cabby all in red. Whats not to like. :innocent:

What I think these people are forgetting, is that as we move forward through the years, the more EV's bought, the fewer diesels and petrol cars around.
Therefore pollution levels will fall naturally through attrition.
