CDTi top coolent hose metal insert

Hi all, pondering using a inline thermostat housing for the top hose thermostat mod rather than inserting one into the hose itself. Can anyone tell me what the metal insert in the hose is? Looks like 2 pieces with large flanges bolted together. Strikes me that if that was removed and replaced with the thermostat housing it would be a nice neat job

Unless I misunderstand your description, then the metal insert with bolted flanges IS the Meziere thermostat housing. The in-line thermostat modification, of either flavour, adds a second thermostat to the cooling system. The original one stays put.

I've misunderstood, haven't I?

Andy, the bolt together job is really unnecessary, and all that is required to do the job is a Jubilee clip and one of THESE

So for around a fiver and fifteen minutes of your time, you can have a nice toasty warm heater :drool4:

If you want, have a short run east, and I'll show you exactly how simple it really is ;)

T-Cut that is the one I'm looking at - sounds like someone may have been there before me. Cheers

isnt the thermostat housing for the Diesel hidden under lots of gubbings down the left hand side of the engine (hence why most do the mod)??

Yes, it takes a bit of getting at.

Yes most likely, though there is some evidence the engine runs warmer than it does with the original. There's also the question of the durability of the replacement OEM stats.
