Converting bonnet release Mk1 to Mk2
Is it possible to convert from through the grill (Mk 1 type) bonnet release to the later type (Mk 2) as my new chrome grill( later Mk1) doesn't have the guide on the back? Or should I just transfer the guide from my old plastic grill? (Heat and twist the lugs on the old to remove? Replace and twist the heated lugs on the new chrome one?)

Yes, but I've got a mesh grill and just put my fingers under the bonnet and push the hook back

I've put on a mesh grill as well because I didn't want that unaesthetic hook to make any trouble. Hence I swapped for a mk2 bonnet release. Not too fiddly for the good reason I did it myself!

Yes, very straight forward to do. Remove the grill and the plastic vents and remove the old release leaver and fit the new one. Can be fiddly but straight forward to do. Use either a Facelift release or any from a Mk1 ZT
