Pre-production S-reg List.
 

There have been various posts over the years regarding the pre-production S-reg examples, but with these cars now around 25 years old (as at 2024), I think it's time we gathered some up-to-date survivor numbers :}

If you own an early car or know of one that is still in existence (the six figures in the chassis number will start with '00'), then please post up the details and I'll add it to the list.

I suggest we include chassis number, registration, mechanicals & model, colour & trim and owner details:

Not 100% it’s what you’re looking for as mine is on a “T” plate but I have chassis 001715-it’s a 2.5 V6 Connoisseur auto.

Thanks Iain - as the numerical part of your chassis number begins with '00', then it's certainly a pre-production example. I hadn't realised that some were registered on a 'T', but if you're happy to provide all the details, I'll get it added to the list :}

Tim Spencer-Leach had a S plate in Wedgewood until last year. Stunning car and original.

Lovely car.

There was one by me a while back: S416 DEH, a 2.0V6 in Old English White.

Not sure if it's still alive though.

S416DEH is sorned but ran out of MOT almost 4 years ago with quite a lengthy failure list unfortunately.

Do we know what happened to Tim's car - did he sell it, is it still on the road, etc. ?

He sold it over a year ago. Got strong money for it but then it was a mint example and a significant press car.

S390 DEH is in Canada and is kept in a warm dehumidified garage along with a few cousins.

It’s VIN 1128

Looks like it survives as it's currently sorn, although it's last MOT in 2016 was a pretty bad fail.

And since S909XDA has already been mentioned, looking at similar numbers S908XDA and S910XDA also appear to be 75s, both untaxed.

Hi Guys

Yes I sold S392DEH to a guy called james in 2019, I fell out of love with it after it constantly gave me grief, it did look gorgeous but didn't drive well, I could never get it to run properly after replacing pretty much everything.

Chris Marshall went through it, I broke a V plate car for parts and had paint work done including all belts and fluids.

I guess years of being used and abused and its age took its toll.

I sold it for £3000 which was about what it owed me, I also sold my black CDT as I never used that

She was a beauty though and probably the lowest VIN still on UK roads (even lower than OVP).

Blimey Tim, does this mean you no longer have a 75 ??? :shrug:

I've always been after a black 75 Mk1, not pbt just regular clear of black.

I have a ZTT CDTi and a Pewter Grey 2.5 Cowley which is for sale soon.

Don't you buy do up and sell, the Rover 75, i am sure you have been to a few Nano meets, with some of your saves.

It is still alive and living with another 5 white Rover 75's i know the member very well he attends the Nano meets regular when we have them :eek:

Looks like another pre-production car has been found by a good friend of mine :} He's not in the club, but has very kindly given me permission to post up the details of the car.

The chassis number is just 4 digits away from my S-reg and the owner only lives about 20 miles away from me.....what are the chances of that....:D

Will be out to see it soon, the French car I want to show you passed it's MOT earlier this week, the owner is just waiting on documentation from DVLA - god knows how long that'll take....:duh:

Another S reg has turned up in the Members’ Cars For Sale section: S419 DEH, a manual CDTI Club in Arden Green. The VIN isn’t given, but RegalRover (the seller) says to just ask for any further information. I would guess it’s a pre-production car as S420 DEH is in the list on page 1 of this thread. 419 was apparently used as a press car.

I know of one S Reg that got scrapped in 2020. I was going to buy it, but the guy decided to scrap it

Does T207JOP now have a new keeper, had a feeling it had changed hands ?? Does Reebs or Pete know ?

According to DVLA, the last V5C was issued 1st December 2021

I understand T207JOP has seen a lot of spanners recently and is being worked on at the moment.

S750LJW is alive and well, currently sitting in our driveway.

Found the picture of the S Reg I nearly got in 2020 it was a 2.0 V6 Auto with cream leather interior of I remember correctly had the rear sun blind and all the extras I think it got scrapped but can’t fully confirm that but it has disappeared off my radar. So happy I waited and got my 2.0 diesel S Reg though

Let’s be clear, after 10 years of being the owner of this extra special S Reg Rover 75, I passed ownership onto Shiner, who has the skills and resources to look after and save LJW. Thank you sir!

About time for a bump on this thread - any newly found cars, change of owner, write offs, etc. Just post up the details (see first post) and I'll update the list :}

Fred sold this a while ago. He asked me if I wanted it but at the time he wanted what he had in it and I couldn't afford it. He later told me he sold it to a local chap for a lot less than he wanted from me and said this guy has no idea what he has purchased. He said he saw it about occasionally and it was looking good, but wished he had contacted me and let me have it for what it sold for so that its future would have been secure. Oh well.

Looking further along this thread Thomas has posted pics of what I think is this car saying that it has now been scrapped. As Thomas and Fred live close to each other it does look like it will be the same one.

Just checked on DVLA it has unfortunately been scrapped.

I am the proud owner of S577 AOX in Old English White. The car is still going strong and I attended the excellent National Meet at Gaydon with it today. Hope this information is useful.
