CCTV camera to USB?

I've just been given a CCTV camera with RCA video connections (female Yellow & White). Tested on a monitor O.K. but what might be the most practical way to attach to a laptop to record the images? USB connection?
A bit of advice on which software to use would be helpful!
In anticipation, thanks;)

Unless your PC has some sort of video input card, you will need to get a USB video capture device. Plenty on eBay and most have RCA inputs.

You can buy cctv software, some are licence free.

Depending on what you intend to use it for, personally it's probably more effective to get a cheap purpose made DVR. Plenty to chose from on maplins etc.

For a cheap solution there is
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Channel-Phon...N%3DB00577WTUK

just one left though so be quick - others available at extra cost http://www.spycameracctv.com/spycame...usb-audio-cctv

I have a DVR which I run 4 cameras, it is networked so I can view over the internet and even has a smartphone app which I can use. - I did have a dedicated PC with capture card but the DVR is far far better but be mindful you will need a display.

Please avoid maplins DVR's especially the Swann systems - they have a major security flaw.

A company I use, which is just down the road from me is CCTV warehouse, they have an ebay store and these DVR's are very very good.

1 off Ordered... should be with me in Portugal by 4 Jan 2014... We'll see?
Thanks for the links
Martin:xmas-smiley-018:

Just heard from Amazon that my order has been CANCELLED! as the vendor did not have the item in stock, however shortly afterwards I received an email from the vendor saying that the item was in the warehouse but was damaged, hence they did not send it.
I've now sourced one from Germany and for a lower price, as I said earlier - We'll see...

Hi Matt
When you say DVR's Swann systems above have a flaw could you please say more by Pm if you want, as I have just bought one and would prefer to take it back if they do have a flaw cheers Arctic.

I doubt that would make any difference how I would be using my DVR system as I intend to use it as a stand alone unit just connected to a LCD screen and not to the net, am I right in this thinking ? Arctic
