how can i test to see if the dual mass flywheel needs to be replaced david |
To inspect it you would probably have to remove the gear box to get at it.----:eek::eek:

hello to all
i googled how to test the dual mass flywheel and the gearbox has to come off then you will need to fit a special tool to test the d m f with it you can test for play google it and watch the LUK video it was very interesting david |
I looked at checking the DMF free play in situ by jacking one front wheel up with the car in gear, and measuring the rotational movement of the wheel. Any play in the gearbox, differential and drive shaft would affect the result but should be minimal, so you could get a ball park figure for the condition of the DMF.
That was years ago mind, and nothing came of it. I'm happy to measure mine, which I know is worn, if someone can get the measurement of a good one and we can compare the results. Courtesy of the search function this is the original thread: https://the75andztclub.co.uk/forum/s...d.php?t=155554 I'll have to measure mine again to see how much more it has worn. :} . |
