rover 75 tourer diesel does not start

hi to all
this morning the car started and i was able to go shopping and return home then next door asked me to move my car so that they could have a skip picked up so i moved the car and parked elsewhere this evening i went to move the car and it would not start tried another battery no joy connected the t4 and there are no fault codes only cruse control this happened a few years ago and it was the high pressure pump now how can i test to see if it is the high pressure pump

Might be worth carrying out a leak back test on the injectors. What was the HP fuel pressure when cranking the engine with the T4 plugged in?

hi to all
so you are saying on the t4 select real time and crank the engine and it will show the fuel pressure at the common rail and the low pressure

I had a similar thing, Check out the HP fuel pump regulator on the rear of the HP pump.. Turned out it was the small "O" ring had split. Replaced it and all was well.

Yes - I haven't done it myself mind but it should give you a read out from the overview.

T4 will only show the fuel pressure when cranking if the T4 unit is being powered from the mains, not from the cars diagnostic socket ;)

If you have T4 lite, the later T4 interface or virtual T4 then it won't read the fuel pressure when cranking ;)

hi to all
ok this morning i fitted a fully charged battery and connected the t4 cranked the engine selected real time low fuel pressure reading 350 kph the high pressure reading 3000 kph so that was not the fault so i checked the plenum for water guess WHAT WATER it was up to have way up the pollen fillter
took the plenum cover off and the plenum was full of water unblocked the drain so that is done now for the bad news the ecu was wet but by luck i had a replacement ecu which i had from brian tried it the engine would not start went into the fault codes and these are the faults
P1260 electric fuel pump
P3505 glow plug relay
P1df5 ews
cleared the faults and tried to start the engine no go so checked the faults again only the ews fault was there so i went into security fault codes but there were no fault codes but when i went out of the security this came up on screen
ecu name
ews3 immobilstion ecu
error code 2000
reading vin
tamper alert active
so the fault is with the ews unit so if i re enter the zcs codes will this cure the fault i opened the dde ecu off the car and it was wet i have now put it to dry
what are the members suggestions

Did you rewrite the security to the replacement ecu?

david2000 4th March 2022 16:17

hello tricky
when you say re write the security to the new ecu do you mean re sync the security ecus and if required will i be able to use the old ecu to re programme a new ecu
david

You must synchronise the immobilisation for the replacement to work it's in the EWS section ;)
That will only work if it's not been previously used, of course you'll have to write the tune first if you haven't already done so if you haven't then it will offer to write the security part.
That's done under the DDE 4 checks and renewals section.
