A word of warning (not car related)
Over recent weeks I've been out and about shopping for vulnerable people, this has seen me using much of the alcohol hand gels. I make no excuses at this time for having too many beers and last night I tripped and fell, I landed with my palms open on a flat carpeted floor but, the copious use of hand gel has dried out my skin quite badly. As I fell I got a searing pain through my hand like I'd fallen on glass, the thumb pad on my hand has literally torn away and the skin looks like pulled pork where it's torn. I didn't think that the hand gels could dry out the skin so much, and so I'm sharing this as a warning to moisturise your hands if you're using the gels, I've learned a very important lesson.

I’m suffering dry hands too Mike, we have to use the gel frequently at work, I’ve been using e45 before I go to sleep to try and restore some moisture!

Ouch! I never thought about that, though I am using scotch prior to going to bed.

Best solution is to use Dove soap (not sure if I am allowed to advertise), because it contains 10% moisturiser, IF you can get hold of any!

I'm using, very slightly, Celia's special lady soap. If it does for my hands what it does for her face I'll be more than pleased. Not that she needs it, of course.

I took this picture earlier as I dressed it again, the natural lines in the skin are where it's come apart. I've never seen anything like this and it really has woken me up a bit, the pain as it ripped was subdued by alcohol and it still hurt a lot.

That's looks like an allergic reaction Michael. You need urgent medical advice. A&E recommended.

As the guys above have said, get it looked at Mike, that's far worse than you described!
