There's always fake stick-on trim! :p:

Did you try Turtle Wax Black in a Flash?

I think I may have to remove the existing black finish and repaint it. It is a chrome trim underneath with the black Paint?/plastic/?whatever overfinish. Has anyone gone this route ? Thanks. Chris.S.

I had the same problem and it looks awful, I have stripped away the rest of the black coating, in places it was a nightmare to remove, the trim underneath does have a chrome finish but being plastic a specialist paint would be needed to adhere correctly.

I have left mine in the "chrome" state as it were for now because my door handles are also chrome, so really it doesn't look out of place.

The black coating on my rear window trim was long gone when I bought the car last year, it looks like a previous owner has gone to the trouble of removing it and you can see what's left of it on the very edges of the trim.

I used plastidip on my last ZS where the black coating had cracked and peeled on the trim at the bottom of NS drivers door window. It worked pretty well, you couldn't tell from a distance but the finish wasn't exactly the same as on the rear door so you could tell when close up. this shouldn't be an issue on the ZT rear window trim as there is nothing in close proximity to compare it to.

The plastidip lasted well for at least the 2 years I had the car after painting it. I sold the car so can't comment after that.

It's pretty easy to apply and any overspray should just peel off.
