New! Led illuminated gear knobs!

Something I've been trying to get for my own ZT for some time now. I'm now offering these LED illuminated gear knobs.

I currently have one fitted to my ZT, and very happy with it. Fits on tight and securely. Size wise it's very close to the original ZT gear knob size. It's mounted via 3 small allen key bolts that screw on to the gear shaft (see last pic below). These can then be hidden under the leather gaiter.

Available in either standard leather or perforated leather.

LED colour options available in Blue, Red, Green, Amber (matches the factory amber dash lighting in the 75/ZT), or white.

Two dial face designs available as shown in the pics below. The one in the 1st two pics is the same design as on the original ZT gear knob (see original vs new comparison in 1st pic). Other custom designs may be possible such as an MG logo.

These are available for any car, I just need to know the gear shaft size on your car (length and diameter) to supply the correct size to fit to your car.

Wiring is very easy and straight forward, 2 wires positive and negative for the LED. simply connect to any sidelight and earth wire. Mine is wired to the lock/unlock button in the center console.

These are £35 posted in the UK (can post outside of UK at additional cost).

For now I'd just like to get a feel for how much interest there is in these. As I will most likely take orders for these as a group buy due to the many different shaft size, dial face design, leather style and LED colour option requirements.

Let me know below if you'd be interested in one.

Strange you should say that Mike, I was asked only yesterday what it meant, the literal translation is time flies, remember death.

Life is after all not a dress rehearsal, and we are a long time dead.

We should reflect on that.......quality of life is equally as important, if not more so as quantity, as we cannot determine the latter.

I don't view this morbidly, more practically, if we can improve our lives, and that of those around us that we care about, then that is surely a good thing :)

Brian :D

chillyphil 14th May 2020 02:03

Could I have a red MG one please Rick?

Wow, spooky indeed !! And I fully concur !! Long live that dead language Latin... Eh ??? :getmecoat::getmecoat: We sampled the delights of Seaburn beach yesterday. Nice, clean, beach. Redcar to Marske again today. I hope all this effort results in one dress size less at least. Love to all at yours...Harrooooo to the Great Alfredo

Mike Trident 14th May 2020 14:36

Lol

Are they quite heavy, as the weight is actually an important feature.

Rick-sta 14th May 2020 15:12

lol very funny with the jokes but can we not spam this thread as it's for those who'd like to order ;)

I will now be taking orders for these LED illuminated gear knobs. There's been a huge amount of interest in these on my facebook page, far more than I expected. As so many are interested, I will be arranging this as a group buy and having them made to order. I will be calling the cut off deadline for ordering the end of this month 31st May. The complete group buy will then be sent in for manufacturing and then will be ready to post to everyone in 2-4 weeks after (depending on how many I have to get made).

If you’d like to order I will require the following via PM:

1. What model car you’d like to order the gear knob for.

2. The length and diameter of the gear shaft in order to provide the correct fitment size (see pic below for measurements required). A photo of your gear shaft would also be useful so see what style fitting you have. The new gear knob is fitted using the 3 small allen key thread bolts so can fit to all types of gear shafts.

3. The dial face design you’d like on the gear knob (see photo below for the two design options available, although other designs may be possible)

4. The LED colour you’d like (available in blue, red, green, amber or white)

5. If you’d like standard leather or perforated leather.

6. I will need your shipping address.

7. I will need your email address for updates on your order.

The LED illuminated gear knobs are £35 including postage in the UK. If you’d like it sent outside of the UK let me know and I can provide a postage quote.

I will then reply with payment details to complete your order :)

Many thanks
Rick

Yes as Cliff said it just pulls off. Just be careful not to catch yourself in the face :)

Typhoon190 14th May 2020 19:32

So, the gear knob came off . . . . . the insert. :getmecoat:

Insert stuck to the gear stick. D'oh. :duh:

As an aside, can anyone advise how the gaiter is retained up against the gear knob please?

X10Rich 14th May 2020 22:27

Can you post a picture of an amber one (ideally the mg version)?

ooh dear!

Mine from memory mine was just held up by the white plastic ring in this pic below.

https://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/for...1&d=1589568980

To fit the gaiter to the gear knob I just turned it inside out and table tied it to the groove around the bottom of the new gear knob (where the allen key screws are). Below is a pic of the groove where I cable tied the gaiter.

I'll be taking some more detailed pics of how I fit mine to be sent to everyone who orders so they'll have some fitting instructions, along with where to connect the 2 wires for the LED.

This is how the amber one looks. Hard to capture the colour on my phone, but the shade of amber is the same as the factory amber LEDs used in the 75 and ZT
