Torx bolts

Trying to get the gearbox out to replace the slave, next step is to remove the mount on the right hand driveshaft. Two bolts apparently on the KV6, I can just about see one of them, seems to be a Torx kind, anyone know the size please? Will a standard spanner grip these or am I off to the tool shop?

Regards

It's an E22 socket. Please don't mangle it people have been strangled for less!

Many thanks, just when you get to the age when you think you've got every tool ... time to visit the local tool shop.

Aren't they 12 sided bolt heads? seem to think a 14mm socket will fit.

Not sure what they are called as I can hardly see them, and haven't worked out yet how to get to them. Don't really want to remove the exhaust or rear mount but might have to. They appear to be some kind of Torx but certainly about 12 points - but good news if a 14mm socket will do.

Thanks for the input.

Definitely E22

Thanks but buying from UK takes planning (min.4 days postage if you can find someone with good rates) so was up to our local "Halfords" today and bought a set including the E22. Funny never seen them before anywhere on the 75, makes you wonder why Rover chose to use them.

Going to attack the carrier tomorrow with the new socket, takes it out of you lying on your back but at least I can see the bolts now having removed a small heat shield.

Thanks anyway for the thought

While grateful for Fred Byrne’s input, a second most highly valued opinion confirmed Phil-T4’s reply about a 14mm socket doing the job of releasing the carrier bolts.

So set about instructing my younger apprentice (my daughter) who has now removed the bolts with a standard 14mm socket and spanner.

Fortunately I’ve not opened the newly purchased Torx set and will be returning it to the tool shop.

Sorry if I gave you a bum steer. I blame my techncal advisor. I threatened to replace him but he said what do you expect when I pay my advisor with half a tin of dog food and a few handfuls of dog biscuits per day. For that apparently I get 24 hour security and expert technical advice. He still maintains that E22 is correct. You can't put a good dog down he says.
