diesel egr issue

Evening all,

I have a slight problem with the EGR on my diesel ZT. Took the bypass off the other day to find the end part of the exhaust gas pipe (the one which gets blanked off by the EGR bypass) has broken off! The end bit which gets clamped to the egr bypass.

Anyone know if that pipe is replaceable and how far back it goes or where the closest joint is? Looking on rimmer bros it looks this this is the part I would need? https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-WAP10...SABEgLRYvD_BwE

Cheers
Rick :)

Hi Rick. Yes that looks the part. Where has it broken? In the middle where the concertina part is?

Hi Rick
That part is a bit expensive mate, I could supply you with another for a auto for £18 if that helps mate

Take it to a local body shop and ask them to braze it back on

Just blank it off at the manifold end and be done with it Rick.

I have seen a few of these break especially on automatics when a bypass has been fitted.

Hi Andy.
I have read that also the Auto ones seem to fail after bypass, don't they have a water cooler attached though ? therefore if blanked off at manifold would this not effect said cooler, if not could a manual one be fitted ?

Taking mine off had no detrimental effect and there was no water cooling system... both autos on 00 , 03 and 04 plates...

I thought the heater/cooler, from the exhaust on an Auto as a drain screw on top as well, see photo's below.

Heater/cooler.

This also shows an hose fitted to the other part of the pipe work.

The same part can be seen with the manifold off.

As opposed to the manual exhaust pipes here below.

We are on about blanking it off at the back of this exhaust pipe, not removing the heater/cooler right?

I never removed past the initial flexi... the kits i had just capped off at the inlet just before the cooling and deleted the EGR valve and vacuum valve which was also capped.

Rik if it is for your Auto then I would do as klarzy says get it brazed and fit it back, then maybe do as Andy said blank it off at the rear, you need to make sure that the MOT man can not see it as been tampered with.
