Help Tracing A Leak
In my original post on the subject (https://the75andztclub.co.uk/forum/s...d.php?t=277968) I stated that I'd taped over a split in the rear window seal which I assumed was allowing water into the boot and accumulating in the area near the offside rear light, but it's now back to square one.
https://i.imgur.com/4Dez2NFh.jpg After a weekend of persistent rain, with some snow thrown in for good measure, I opened the boot this morning to find a 0.5cm deep puddle below what looks like some sort of air vent. https://i.imgur.com/AQ48pxxh.jpg As far as possible I've checked everywhere above the area and can find no sign of where water is getting in. It's not coming from the light seal and it's not coming from the waist trim fasteners. I also managed to squeeze my hand into the holes in the horizontal metal panel in which the boot courtesy light is housed to feel round the window clips and it's dry in there as well, which pretty much rules out the rear window as the culprit. Other than the air vent being the issue (although I really can't see how it's possible for water to reach it) I've no idea where the leak might be. Any pointers on what else to check will be much appreciated. Thanks Andrew |
The boot vents are known leak spots. Have a read at this

Do you park on a slope ? If you do it will give a clue as to the direction of the leak. Sort of trace it upstream.
The leak in my boot was from the centre of the rear screen surround. It ran from left to right and the water ended up where you have those tissues in your pic. |
