Novice 75 owner.

Hi to all. I have just acquired my first 75. 2004 cdti conny se auto. It has 56k on the clock and all previous MOT's verify this. Comprehensive service record (almost full history) last serviced Jan 2020, four new tyres and has been waxoiled twice (at least). It is a dream to drive, especially as my main vehicle is a Vectra 2.0 dti estate, and seems to have excellent power, no noises, clunks or rattles.
As a novice I am interested to know what problems, if any, I am likely to encounter. The car appears to have been well cared for showing only two small stone chips on the front edge of the bonnet and a slight graze on the nearside front door panel. The rear seats appear untouched and the front two are very mildly soiled (hardly noticeable). There are floormats fitted front and rear and underneath the original carpets are very clean. Even the boot has a fitted rubber secondary mat.. All tools are present, handbook and service book together with receipts for work done and MOT certificates. As far as I can remember there were no fails other than the odd worn tyre here and there.
Any suggestions as to what to prepare for whatever usually goes wrong?
Thanks in advance.

Welcome along, sounds like a good one you have there.

Check your plenum chamber for water (In between the front windscreen and the engine bay) Clear the drains as the ecu lives in there and you don't want to get it wet.

Plenty of other advice will be added shortly form others I'm sure ;)

Welcome aboard the 75 ownership club and well done on your choice they are great cars.

You need to check your plenum just to make sure there is no water in there as it can and will cause issues ( do a search on plenums )

Water leaks are also common , if you have a sunroof it is wise to mod the drains otherwise your front carpets can get very wet and water can get into the boot from several places ( again a search on here will come up with the required info

Change you PCV filter

Keep it serviced

Hi Francis.
Welcome sounds like a nice low mileage diesel, as already stated check when and if the PCV was last changed, do a demist test to see if the fan is working, look up how to use the OBD, go to 19 then 7 to see if your engine is reaching its true temperature, if not then you may have the opening early thermostat syndrome, easy fix with an inline stat, as the original thermostat is a time consuming job, and can be expensive if done by a garage.

Few hose to tie back to save then getting chaffed, check the O-rings on the intercooler, check the level in the coolant tank most add to much, at the same time check the O-rings on the coolant header tank cap that they have not gone flat so are not sealing perfectly.

Ask as many questions as you like that way you will get to know your car better;) cheers Arctic.
