no. But THIS one has an image of the correct fitting. Some sellers will supply either regardless of the image shown as they are interchangeable between the relevant minis, but not suited to our requirements, so confirm with the seller that it is the same as the image.

have you investigated why it is US first? The backplates can rust, and allow the hold down pins of the shoes to pull through, although by this stage, you may need the compensator looked at also.

You don't need the full handbrake, just the cable, and i've got one, that i don't need as i'm getting one of Artics modified compensators, Fitting the mini one is more work, ,the passenger seat has to be removed and a tab bent down, to allow the cable to be fitted
if you want mine, it will be cheaper than buying the whole handbrake

Fitting the Mini one is a bit of a pain but there is an excellent guide on here and it is a once for all cure to the problem. The handbrake feels much more solid and secure than it ever did with the original unit. Just get some sympathy for all the scratches on your hands following the process!

Backplates have been refitted together with new discs/drums shoes and pads about 15 months ago and the MOT was 3 months later and the handbrake JUST passed. Now even at it's top notch there is hardly and braking, so I am assuming the usual bent compensator.

I don't think that it is a cable problem, it is more likely the compensator which I need to replace.

If it is the original one then, yes, it could well be bent. In my case the lever had a distinctly springy feel to it.

Just modded our Handbrake compensator as per Arctics guide link below. Couple of hours in the shed armed with Bosch hand drill and bosch drill bit set, lidl parkside milling drillbit set plus Stainless steel parts:

  • Stainless steel clevis pin (M8x25 but M10 would also work),
  • D shackle ( Diameter 6mm x Inside Length 45.5mm x Inside Jaw 12mm)
  • Washers x 3
  • 1 x Circlip.

Drilled out the old pin slowly no problem at all and found had to drill out one side to fit M8 D shackle used as it was 6mm from factory. Others including arctic use a larger D shackle more like M10 I believe.
