Inoperative Fuel Gauge
Hello everyone, I'm hoping that you can help me with an issue with relating to the fuel gauge on my ZT 1.8 Turbo.
The car was sat for some months om my drive out of MOT because it had the odometer 999999 mile issue, and I didn't want it shown on the cars history. One of our members came over and sorted that. After that I noticed that the fuel gauge only moved very slightly from the empty position, although the light Does go out. I assumed because the car had been stood for a while that one of the floats was stuck. I drove it for a while relying upon the light, but then investigated the floats which were both free to move. I carried out the cluster pack diagnostics with the following results: 2.0 - The dash lights are all operative and the temperature gauge moves normally. However the fuel gauge actually moves backwards ie. clockwise instead of anti clockwise. __6.0 __0287 __6.1 _____ 1_6.2 __0274 Could this be an unintended result of the process to fix the 999999 issue? Could the gauge mechanism be faulty. and would it be possible to take one from another cluster pack? Sorry to be a bit long winded, but if anyone can help, I would be most grateful. |
Was the IPK dismantled to resolve the 999999 issue? If so the pot on the gauge could have been disturbed, if so it will need a new one soldering in as once upset they are never the same again.

There was some dismantling, because I remember that the needles were removed, Do you know if new pots are available ?
