Oil leak
Hello Dave, you mentioned cam shaft cap is it on the left side in the back(if you staying face to the engine) sort of round black plastic cup? And if it is then how difficult to do repair, cose I do have suspicious about that part just not sure how to check. Thanks.

Loose oil filter, I have seen this a few times on a KV6 engine

Good call Mr. Stocktake - yes left side at the back if you are in front of the car.
In a way you’re lucky as it was the rear cap, my daughter’s Tourer blew a front cap contaminating everything including the drive belt - one dead Tourer. A new cap is fiddly but possible to get into place but the old one probably blew because of excess crankcase pressure. The gauze filters inside the cam shaft covers need cleaning / replacing and the smaller breather holes unblocking (they will be blocked), check the breather pipes for breakage. Not an expensive or difficult job but very time consuming as the upper manifold needs to come off. Good time to replace the rear spark plugs while everything is exposed. Good luck |
Thanks for stepping in Mike, got sidetracked replacing the rear shoes, pads and discs on my old jalopy :)

Finally I have time to start replacing the cap, just have more questions. Do I have to take timing belt off or I can get away with out taking off if so then can I have tips for this job. Thanks.
