Pcv filter

Have been reading up on the pcv valve , does anyone know the filter part number, is it best to change the filter or the complete unit?

Do I remember buying a ‘fit for life’ PCV filter to my diesel 75? I think it was a BMW part, from the BMW dealer, and IIRC I even got an owners’ club discount.

On the other hand, my memory might be faulty......

I fitted the BMW part, it replaces the filter altogether.

Hi Malcolm & Steve.
Yes the BMW vortex filter less will fit but i prefer the filter one all day long, the BMW one is not fit & forget its got to be cleaned about every 2yrs and they catch no crud either.

Is it best to do just the filter or the newer modified unit ?

All down to personal preference. I've fitted the vortex type because the one thing they can't do is block up, unlike the originals.

The problem was they were designed to be a separator, but in reality acted as filters with higher mileages.

Don't suppose you have the part number? Regards
