Jaguar why no tourer (estaste)?

Expanding on the Jag v8 thread. Why in Jaguars long history did they not produce a tourer (estate)?. If BMW and Mercedes etc were producing them again why not?. To date there is only 2, xtype tourer and the xf sports break!.
For me they have missed a GREAT opportunity. On the plus side its the reason I am an MG ZTT owner, style + performance + load lugging =:D

A couple of companies did conversions on the Series 2 XJ's but like the P6 it wasn't great looking (Mr Lyons was not impressed) and the load capacity was not what it could be.

But then they did a very nice 2 door coupe XJ, which Rover missed out on lol

The X type only got an estate version because it was based on the Mondeo platform and meant for the pleb masses not the discerning Jaguar owner :D

They never really fitted in n their range until recently. The typical jaguar shape didn't really suit an estate. They all had that low long saloon look that doesn't look right to say the least.
Now they've got the xf which is spot on to me. The x type being shorter lent itself to having an estate shape.

Don't forget the John Lyons sanctioned X300 XJ estate, that is part of the Jaguar heritage collection, currently viewable at Gaydon in the new collections centre. I have pictures, which I'll try to sort out later on.
